About Taylord Dezeme

On July 25th 1990 Taylord Dezeme was born in bombard-au-police, Haiti. Bombard-au-police is a small town located on the northwestern side of Haiti. Influenced at an early age by his artisan grandfather (Llodvi Dezeme) and mother (Eliette Cherisma), Taylord begin to follow their artistic path. Throughout his childhood while in Haiti he was inspired by his surroundings and culture. He and his friend Alex Jules would have friendly drawing competitions on a regular basis. He then later owned his skills by sketching complete drawings from vacation photos throughout an entire sketch book every summer. In 2007 at the age of 17 Taylord and his older brother (Ederson Dezeme) moved to the United States to live with his father (David Dezeme) and also to meet his two younger brothers (David Dezeme) and (Dav’Juan Dezeme) for the first time in Fort Myers, Fl.

In 2009, Taylord begin working on his first painting which was a re-make landscape of a Mexican farmer working. Once he identified another talent within painting he began to fall in love with it. He was later introduced to the Florida highwaymen paintings which influenced him to continue working on landscape paintings. The highwaymen paintings reminded him of Haitian styled artwork. Amazed by the similarities between the African American culture and the Haitian culture, Taylord began to mimic what he was seeing throughout the artwork to then create his own style. He was also influenced by Jacob Lawrence, David salle, and Peter Doig.
